On 4 May 2017, Greater Dandenong City Council, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining their collective vision and commitment to secure a new A-League, W-League and National Youth League Club for south-east Melbourne.
The historic MoU signing was followed by a community celebration held at Harmony Square in Dandenong, where local club representatives, players and members of the local community united to show their support for an A-League team in south-east Melbourne.
On 1 June 2017, Greater Dandenong City Council, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council were joined by local club representatives, players, members of the local community and Members of Parliament for the official launch of Team11 – south-east Melbourne’s bid to bring the 11th A-League Club to the region.
In August 2017, Greater Dandenong City Council, Casey City Council and Cardinia Shire Council announced the appointment of a Team11 Steering Committee. Steering Committee members include State Member for Dandenong Gabrielle Williams MP, Cr Jim Memeti, Mayor, Greater Dandenong City Council, Garry McQuillan (representing Cardinia Shire Council), Peter Fitchett (representing Casey City Council) and Team11 Ambassador Vince Grella.
In October 2017, it was announced that Cox Architecture had been appointed to review options for consideration of a major stadium in Dandenong.
Cox has a world-leading team with extensive experience in major stadia developments including AAMI Park in Melbourne, NIB Stadium in Perth and the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment. They will prepare concept plans illustrating what a stadium in south-east Melbourne could look like, which will be shared with the community in the near future.
